Aug 25, Aug 25? - been bugging me all day thinking I've forgotten something important, someone's birthday. Then I remember, it's the day you said you were hoping to finish your walk. I met you on the high roads south of Lairg on my LE to JoG walk, saw you running round the corner and down the hill pulling that cart, thought I must ask what you were doing, but before I had the chance you came up and said 'Hi, you must be Mike.' and gave me a hug!! so bizarre. It was great meeting you, shame it was so brief. Anyway, looks like you're on schedule - fantastic. Put your feet up and enjoy the rest. Such a trip, such an achievement, worthy of doubling our Olympic medals haul!! so what's next??? |

Hi Rosie Not sure if we ever met, but I lived on a boat in Bill O Briens yard at Willments Shipyard, Southhapton on one of his cats the year after you did with your B o B cat. (In the seventies.) It was reading your book way back then that was part of my motivation to buy a cat. I soon came to prefer monohulls though I must admit and did an Atlantic Circuit and 60,000 miles of ocean sailing later. Nowadays I fly paragliders. Please check out my web site for some good sailing pics, including my old catamaran and a lot of flying pics. Well done on this massive achievement. |

Now, this IS an Olympian achievement. Astonishing. My Dad - who lives with Mum on Anglesey, North Wales - is currently recovering from prostate cancer and I shall be sure to tell him about this. Being a traveller myself, the scale of your adventure leaves me a tad dazed to be honest. Truly magnificent. Hope your feet don't get itchty TOO quickly once you get home! |
