Dear Rosie. Just this morning I could update myself with Rosienews from the website afters 3 ½ weeks of fieldwork in Iceland with a small international group with people from Holland, Germany and Spain. I missed the news as I weekly follow you for years. Great to see that you have arrived in Scotland now. Would have loved to pay you a visit but we were working in the southwest near Sellfoss, studying the Icelandic Black-tailed Godwit. (We were near the epicentre of a 6.1 Richter earthquake, but no harm to us). These Godwits you must have seen and heard around you this spring because it breeds almost everywhere on Iceland in marshes and agricultural fields. In Holland we call this bird Grutto, so for us it calls out its own name all the time. An Icelandic farmer told us that when he hears the sound of the Grutto in spring the winter has gone no matter how much snow there still is on the mountains. That’s the same to me every spring. I came no further east than Vik on an excursion to see a fantastic breeding colony of Fulmar, the lovely Puffins and Kittiwakes, in pooring rain. I had a big bar of chocolate with me which would have been yours if we would have met. Yesterday I flew back home and must have flown almost above your ferry to Scrabster. Isn’t that amazing? (You passed me already once before at a distance of 15 kilometers when you crossed Friesland and visited Leeuwarden). This, and every, autumn and winter you will be able to see the Godwits again in Wales as this Icelandic subspecies mainly winters in Brittain, Ireland and in small numbers also Holland, France and Spain. If you see and hear them at home you might think again at your stay in amazing Iceland. I wish you good luck and many birds on your last leg to Tenby. Hans

Dear Rosie I have just caught a news item about you arriving in Scotland what a fabulous inspiration you are. I was diagnosed with stage IV metastaic prostate cancer in february 2006 and like you I am campaigning to raise the awareness with my red sock campaign that I launched in Cardiff on april 18th this year. With the short time I have left I have decided to devote my time to ALL terminally ill people in Wales and to try to save more men from the fate that your husband and I had to face. Rosie if you have the time when you get back to Tenby I would love to meet up with you please give me a call on 07815884736 or email as above. My website is www.theredsock.co.uk Good luck for the final leg of your journey Keith

You are an amazing person Rosie! I remember you in the news from years ago when you were doing a bit of yachting (well, a big bit of yachting!). I didn't know about your round the world adventure until I read it in the Express the other day. What a fantastic thing to do, and what guts and determination you must have. I admire you immensely (I'm a married man but I can still do that can't I?) I will be looking out for you as you head south through north Lancashire, pop in for a brew in Garstang if you pass through.

" Brookfield Rosie Club" has been meeting often since January 18 th 2008. Most meetings include a discussion on " How is she? Where is she? " The meetings are held frequently and at a variety of locations i.e. post office, grocery stores, church. There have even been special meetings called, so people who didn't have e-mail etc. could learn more about this amazing person! The CLUB sends LOVE and BLESSINGS.
