When I went to Iceland, Myvatn in early May, I saw Rosie dragging her yellow tent in the heavy rain when I was driving toward Myvatn Natural Bath. I wish I knew what she was doing, so that I could have stopped and helped her or something. It was my 8th time in Iceland, and was leading two Japanese journalist who was making a special feature of Iceland on their magazine. Anyway, I wish I had taken more photos, but there was only one... or maybe two. One is on my blog. It was early in the morning and I did not want to wake Rosie up, so I just took a photo of the yellow tent I saw the night before. It was parked on the pavement/parking lot of one lookout spot. The photo was taken in the morning around maybe 10am of May 3. http://icelandia1.exblog.jp/8785841/ Since there is no Rosie in the photo it is not really anything to look at, but if you would like, you are very welcomed to use it. Oh, my blog is in Japanese. But you can look at the photos, right?! I have not read much yet, but it sounds like he had broken her ribs? Since she was back on track when I saw her, I hope she is not in pain much and recovering fast. Thank you for making such a agreat website for her. I will be back and I will read more. Also, please tell Rosie that I admire her courage and her inner strength. It looks like there are a lot to learn from her. Sincerely, Yuka Ogura |

Hi Rosie, I've been following you in the Tenby Ob. up to now but I thought I'd write to say what an inspiration you are to me. You certainly show that us over 50s that we are not ready for the scrap heap yet, even if I do feel like it after a bad day at work. You certainly put that back into perspective. Congratulations on all you have achieved so far and best of luck for a smooth run on your final leg. Hope the snow has released you by now and the ribs are feeling easier. Stay safe and all the best from a Tenby exile. |

Dear Rosie, On May 9, 2008, my boyfriend and I had set out on a long drive from Husavik, Iceland for Skaftafell, Iceland. The weather that day quickly went from cold and rainy to cold and snowy shortly after we passed Myvatn. We are from Colorado so we were not too surprised by the weather or the road conditions (which were not great). As we passed Namafell the roads and wind continued to get worse and traffice was sparse. Our stop at Namafell was a quick one because it was so cold. As we continued our journey it was to our surprise as we came over a hill to see a person running at the bottom. We were stunned! The temp was -4C and with wind chill it was not doubt even colder. As we came upon you we saw your information and had to find out more about your quest. We stopped to check on you and you assured us that you were okay. We continued on our journey but our thoughts were always with you. I had to post this message to tell you what an inspiration you are and to give others an idea, from personally seeing you out there, of the kind of conditions that you encountered on your journey. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to see you on your "run around the world". Within days of our return to the US we had a Marathon to run in Fargo, ND. Being tired from our 11 day adventure in Iceland I wasn't sure I could do it. But I quickly thought of you and realized if she can run thousands of kilometers I can certainly do this. Thank you so much!! You are an inspiration!! YOU GO GIRL! Very Best Regards, Jacqlyn & Michael, Centennial, Colorado |
