Dear Rosie, what great descriptions you write - I can feel the wind when I read here in this smothering tropical heat. I was wondering if there's a chance of a boat to the Faroe Islands and then on to Scotland......don't know if they go that kind of way; but I met my first person from Faroe Islands recently and that got me thinking as I write here. Safe journey on - you are in my prayers...... |

Actually, this is the first time I hear about your journey, but as a 13-year old kid it caught my attention quite quickly. I really enjoyed taking that hour to read about your journies and challenges. My friends quoted "Look! That proves that women can do it too!!!" We all laughed and enjoyed looking at pictures and browsing through the website. Now I will save this address into my favorites, and I will sure be back to check on this. I am very interested in these kinds of things, since I did meet the 180 Degree (around the world in human power) experimenters, Rob and James, and hearing about them and seeing the talk about everything in person got me so interested. Now, I my interest is growing, knowing that I woman can do it too, explore the world on their two feet. I send you my blessings. Congratulations, keep safe, and I hope I will be able to read about your journies in the future. xxx Laura |

I met Rosie this morning and she is fine. She was on the road to east Iceland, one of the highest and most difficult roads in Iceland. There are no houses on the way and tens of kilometres she is completely alone. There is traffic along the road so she can have some company if she wants. On that spot I met her; there was absolutely nothing, just snow and more snow and open space. I am going to see her again this afternoon and bring her some goods, Icelandic dried fish, butter, spaghetti, chocolate cover raisins and two pair of warm socks and some batteries. I will send her some more with the schedule bus tomorrow and I am going to see her on Saturday even Sunday too. Today it is cold, windy and blowing snow but she was having a quick wash when I met her, her hair was soaking wet in the frost but she was smiling. Remarkable woman she is. Her friend Thorgeir |

Hi dearest Rosie, Just to let you know I am following your reports every day and look forward to when you finish that last 90 miles to the end of Iceland! Your journey gets ever more interesting and challenging! Let’s pray for a fishing boat to bring you to Scotland before June :) lots of love, from Liza and all at Ecologia and Kitezh xxxx |

Dear Rosie What an amazing tale of Iceland you will have to tell and the little glimpse you have given us is just a "teaser". We will have to wait for the book to learn just what you have had to endure with those firece artic winds, the unbearable cold and the prolonged periods of isolation and loneliness. It must have been so very difficult. I have never experienced anything even remotely like what you are doing and it will be something to learn where you found the courage and how you faced the challenges. I know how important it is to keep a positive attitude. We have continuously checked the map of Iceland following your journey and we are so excited that you will be heading to Scotland. We do hope it can be much sooner then June. I wish I had a magic wand and could wave it and you and Icebird would magically appear on the shores of Scotland ready to complete the last leg of your journey. We wish you good health and a safe journey. Take care and keep us posted. You are very much in our thoughts and prayers. |

Rosie, your story has been on an Architecture Week's Fireside Forum for over two months, and I think 1600 architects are asking permission to join you in the hottub, native style! Your engines must be on full throttle... 90 miles to paradise! Z Note: I thank Martha Stewart and Sue Warburg for telling me your story. |

Dear Rosie. This is a very fine homepage you've got! I hope that the down jacket is a good addition to your clothing. Me and my staff enjoyed meeting you and having such a wonderful conversation with you. We hope that the rest of your journey will be successful and troublefree :) Best wishes from the staff in the 66°North shop in Akureyri, Iceland. |

Hi Rosie, Hope all is going well. I went to a conference on Homebirth this weekend and it got me thinking, I work as a birth partner and have read about your experiences of delivering your son on board your boat and little Rosie in the wilds of Chile, I wondered if you would think about talking at an event about your experiences, life and anything else you like if I organise one for the late summer/autumn? I know you are probably only thinking about running and getting home and seeing all your loved ones but do get in contact when you are rested up if you think its something you would be willing to do. Wish I could be running with you today instead of sitting here. Hope you have sunshine today. Take carew, love Selina (selinawallis@hotmail.com) |
